Bedford St George's Golf Day and Ball

21st & 23rd & April 2018

The Rotary Club of Bedford Park St George’s Day Ball 2018

After 25 years of The St George’s Day Ball and Golf, organised by Rotarian Nick Kier, The Rotary Club of Bedford Park is continuing both events. Please put the dates in your diary, Saturday 21st April 2018 for the Ball and Monday 23rd April for the Golf.

The Ball has moved to a new venue, The Sharnbrook Hotel. Musical entertainment is provided by the superb “Big Me” (see them on YouTube) and there’s an excellent four-course meal including ‘carve at the table’ roast beef, a trio of English puddings and a luxury cheese table.

The evening commences at 6.45 p.m. for 7. 15 p.m. There’s a “fizz” reception and canapés on arrival with patriotic music. This is followed by a St George-themed “Heads and Tails”. An Auction of Promises will occur between the main course and dessert.

The cost of a table of 10 is £500 (£50 per head); a few tables of 12 are also available. This is possible due to major sponsorship from Charles Wells Ltd, Old Road Securities plc and other sponsors including John Kaye Opticians, DLP (Planning) Ltd and Cambria Wealth Management.

The golf tournament will be played on St George’s Day at our regular venue, Bedford & County Golf Club. Enter in teams of 4 for an 18-hole Stableford competition which tees off from 10:30. Prizes will be presented during a three-course dinner afterwards with patriotic fun and top-quality comedy entertainment sponsored by Clydesdale Ltd.

The cost of entering a team of 4 is now only £320 (£80 per player) due to the generosity of our sponsors, and represents excellent value for an event with so many attractions both on and off the course.

The primary aim of both our St George events is to raise money for charities, continuing the wonderful tradition of previous events which have raised a total of over £500,000. Our main charities this year are BOLD (Bedfordshire Opportunities for Learning Disability) and CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young), as well as other local charities including Bedford Daycare Hospice, Disabled Cricket and The Bedfordshire Festival of Music, Speech and Drama.
